Pilgrimage to San Francisco next week

Greetings parish!

There is a pilgrimage being led by Fr. Nektarios next week that he has welcomed our parish to be a part of. This will be such a blessing to anyone able to make it!

The caravan will leave Tuesday, March 25th at 7:45 am from the Bowman Dr. park and ride parking area, just off I-5 (please reach out to Fr. Nektarios for more specific directions - his number is below).

The first stop on this pilgrimage will be at the Old Holy Virgin Cathedral on Fulton Street in San Francisco. Bp James will be serving a Molieben and asking for the prayers of St. John for the pilgrims as you enter the second half of Lent. He will also offer special prayers for each pilgrim beneath the Mantia of St. John. I have been blessed with this service and felt the grace of God and the prayers of St. John in a way that I can’t even begin to explain. Below is a photo of this prayer service being offered.

Lunch of soup and bread will be served at the Cathedral.

After lunch, the group will travel to St. Tikhon’s orphanage, where St. John lived. Pilgrims will tour the grounds and listen to a presentation by Bp James about the saint’s life. During the tour, pilgrims will have the opportunity to venerate miraculous icons that are restoring themselves, by the grace of God.

The final stop of the pilgrimage will be at the New Holy Virgin Cathedral on Geary Boulevard where St. John’s relics can be venerated.

Once the pilgrims have had the opportunity to venerate and pray, the caravan will return back to Bowman Rd. parking area.

Fr. Nektarios needs a head count by Friday morning so that Bp. James can be prepared and enough food will be available to everyone. Please reach out to him on his cell phone at 530.844.1152. There are at least 8 other pilgrims coming from our area and Vasilios from St. Andrew, God willing, will be joining as well.

In Christ,

Michelle
