Theophany Weekend
Christ is born!
This coming weekend is full of opportunity for unique participation in the life of the Church and we are looking forward to celebrating the baptism of Christ AND the baptism of our catechumen, Jared (taking the name Seraphim).
Saturday, evening, we will hold Vespers beginning at 5PM, Fr. George will hear confessions and the water will be blessed. Remember to bring a container for Holy Water to take home with you!
Sunday, we will meet at Anderson River Park at 9AM for Seraphim's baptism. We will meet on the riverbank on Rupert Rd., just to the right of the bathroom (please see the attached map with the location indicated).
After the baptism, we will head to St. Andrew for Divine Liturgy (no Hours this week). Following Liturgy, we will return to the park for the Blessing of the River, followed by a picnic lunch! The Blessing of the River will take place at the fishing dock (see map for location), which is inside Kiddieland. We have reserved the Kiddieland picnic area (see map) and there are 6 picnic tables and a grill that we are free to use (note: glass bottles are prohibited in the park). Trapeza Team 3 will be providing our picnic lunch.
We look forward to the joy and peace that BEING the Church and participating together brings!
"We must participate in the services and sacraments, be fed on the scriptures and imitate the saints. We must seek out the help of the experienced, and heed their counsel and advice. And we must go to God Himself and say with a pure heart: “Thy will be done! And He will see that we find our vocation and calling in life, and become the saints that he has willed us to be from the beginning." Fr. Thomas Hopko
